How to Strengthen Your Teeth Naturally
Your tooth enamel may be strong now, but it can demineralise with time. If this happens, then your enamel weakens and this can lead to cavities, chipped teeth and tooth sensitivity. Thankfully, there’s ways to strengthen your teeth naturally.
Use the right toothpaste and brush
Rough toothbrush can damage your enamel. Instead, Use a soft-bristled brush. As for the toothpaste, if you have sensitivity problems, then use a paste specifically made for this problem. It’s also important to check the glycerin ingredient ratio in your toothpaste as it can form a film over your teeth and block the minerals in your saliva used to strengthen your teeth.
Sugar-free chewing gums
Chewing gum helps stimulate saliva which washes away the bacteria and acids from the mouth. However, avoid gums that contain sugar. Look for sugar-free gums with Xylitol instead.
Eat cheese
The whey protein and casein in cheese greatly reduces enamel demineralisation. Even chewing on cheese stimulates saliva. Just be aware, cheese can help your tooth enamel, but only if you eat it at the end of a meal.
Snack less
If your teeth are constantly exposed to sugar and food acids, then bacterial infestation will be more common. Snack less to reduce your sugar and refined carb intakes.
What Not to Eat?
A healthy diet will not only help you lose weight, but can provide you with stronger teeth as well. Limit your sugar intake to only 13gms per day. Limiting sugar can reduce your oral woes significantly. Pasta, bread, chips and crackers are all refined carbohydrates that turn into sugar inside your mouth. Even the acid present in soda, citrus foods, tomatoes and pickles can weaken the enamel and lead to problems over time.
What Should You Eat?
Foods rich in vitamins and minerals are always welcomed by your body. Broccoli, pumpkin seeds, red meat, beans, dairy, shellfish, Brazilian nuts, lentils, oysters and foods rich in calcium, zinc and phosphorus are incredible.
These are just a few tips to naturally strengthen your teeth. These natural methods will take time, so don’t expect overnight changes. Regularly brushing and flossing with some minor changes in your lifestyle and habits can work wonders for your oral health.
