Meet the Principal Dentist at Dentistry on Dusk

Dr. Gurpreet Singh Chohan was born in the United Kingdom and immigrated to Canada with his parents and three siblings in 1992. He attended Turner Fenton Secondary School in Brampton, graduating with Honours in 1996. He continued his studies at the University of Toronto, achieving the Dean’s Honours List and graduating with High Distinction in his pursuit of a Double Major Degree in Biology and Economics, with a Minor in Mathematics. Achieving admission to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, he completed his Doctoral education in 2006, and received his General Dentist License.

Throughout his years at the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Chohan had a special interest in Community Outreach and Service. He served as the Community Outreach Representative on the Class Council during the course of his studies, and was elected as the Dental Student Society Community Outreach Director for the Faculty of Dentistry in his final year of study. He was the coordinator and organizer of Faculty wide Community Outreach projects such as the Dental Hygiene Project at the Special Olympics, as well as lead school wide oral health care initiatives with the Toronto District School Board and the Jerome Diamond Centre for the Mentally Challenged. Dr. Chohan was the Co-Author and Editor of the publication in ODSJ: “Community Dentistry: What is our role?” and Author of the publication in Alumni Today on Faculty Community involvement. Upon graduating, he received the Dental Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Dedication to the Student Body while at the Dental Faculty.

Since graduating, in 2006, Dr. Chohan has continued his pursuit of excellence in General Dentistry, having completed hundreds of hours of courses in postgraduate dentistry. Dr. Chohan has a keen interest in the fields of endodontics, pediatrics and aesthetic dentistry. He is dedicated to advance, postdoctoral study and provides his patients with a comprehensive approach to their oral health. He is a strong believer in conservative and preventative dentistry, with the goal to increase the longevity of his patient’s smile. He is dedicated to the newest advancements in general dentistry.

When Dr. Chohan is not practising his passion for dentistry, he spends his time with his lovely wife, who is a Registered Nurse, and his two young children. He is an avid golfer, football player and drummer that loves to live life to the fullest!
